The DA2 Film Festival 2024 in Zagreb is a dynamic celebration of cinema, design, architecture, and the arts. This vibrant festival brings together filmmakers, artists, and industry professionals worldwide to showcase thought-provoking films that explore the intersection of creativity, culture, and social impact. With a strong focus on innovation and sustainability, the festival highlights the importance of design and architecture in shaping the future, offering a platform for established and emerging voices in the global film community.
The Spark Award at the DA2 Film Festival 2024 in Zagreb recognized the most inspiring film selected by the International Jury. This award aims to support the production of films about design, architecture, and the arts while promoting creativity and Croatian art internationally.
The jury consisted of Dana Budisavljević (film director and producer), Izvorka Jurić (designer and educator), and Márton Orosz (curator), who evaluated films in categories such as green architecture, urban development, and cultural narratives.
The winning films were celebrated for their creativity, originality, and ability to inspire new ideas and discussions. The Spark Award winners were announced at the closing ceremony, marking the end of a week of exciting screenings and thought-provoking talks.
Skin of Glass, directed by Denise Zmekhol, won the Spark Award at the DA2 Film Festival this year, and Van Gogh: The Making of a Master, directed by Anne Richard, received a Special Mention.
In this year’s selection for the sixth edition of the DA2 Film Festival, we present films that focus on green architecture, cities, and society, offer new perspectives on the lives of world-renowned artists and visionaries, and reveal the intimate stories of lesser-known individuals from distant countries, whose lives have been shaped by the power of creative expression. We are excited that the DA2 Film Festival will once again bring together film and art lovers eager for interesting stories and conversations at the “Šta DA?” Talks. – Tina Hajon, Artistic Director of the DA2 Film Festival.
