First prize in the Competition for the Visual Identity Design of the City Gasworks Zagreb

The first prize in the open-call Competition for the Visual Identity Design of the City Gasworks Zagreb was awarded to the team: Koržinek-Jurić-Kos with the concept titled “Warmth”

The judging panel of the open-call Competition for the Visual Identity Design of the City Gasworks Zagreb, consisting of Velinka Buljan, Ana Miličević, Jan Pavlović, Sean Poropat, and Narcisa Vukojević, unanimously decided to award prizes to the best works. The first prize was awarded to the team KORŽINEK-JURIĆ-KOS for their work titled ‘Warmth.’ The second prize was given to the team HOT TYPE, and the third prize to PROSPEKT.

A total of 18 entries were submitted to the competition, and the judging panel reached a unanimous decision regarding the awards during their meeting.

From the explanation of the judging panel regarding the winning concept “Warmth”:

“The first-prize solution successfully addresses the task of creating a new visual identity for the City Gasworks Zagreb, aiming to clearly conceptually and visually differentiate it from its sister and/or competitive energy sector entities and setting the framework for the future development of GPZ, which doesn’t necessarily have to rely solely on gas as the dominant energy source.

The core element of the visual identity is the monogram / symbol that skillfully avoids conventional graphic elements such as components of the city of Zagreb’s coat of arms, flames, gas distribution pipes… and suggests warmth / thermal energy as the conceptual motive behind this solution. By repeatedly using the monogram or its parts (waves of heat), an attractive, shimmering graphic pattern is created, widely applicable in various means and media of application.”
