To mark the 60th anniversary of Dražen Petrović’s birth, the Croatian Mint introduced a special series of gold and silver collector coins titled “Dražen Petrović”. The collection features several packaging formats, each carefully designed to celebrate his legacy. The exclusive collector coin set was produced in an edition of only 6 pieces, while the higher-value individual gold coin was limited to 60 pieces. The lower-value gold coin is presented in the Croatian Mint’s signature box, while the silver coin comes in standard packaging. The coins were designed by sculptor Nikola Vudrag.
The outer packaging design draws inspiration from a basketball bearing Dražen Petrović’s signature. The innovative round box features a drawer system that opens from both sides, while the base holding the coins is graphically designed as a basketball court. One side of the coin features Dražen Petrović and is positioned at the shooting guard position – Dražen’s position on the court. The other side depicts a basketball going through the hoop and is positioned at the basket on the packaging base.
The limited editions are presented in eco-leather packaging, while the standard editions use paper or rigid laminated boxes, ensuring a premium presentation across the entire series.
Every package includes a certificate of authenticity and a booklet presenting Dražen’s remarkable basketball career, giving collectors both a valuable keepsake and an insight into his inspiring story.
The outer surface of the paper packaging features an embossed basketball texture, adding a distinctive visual and tactile dimension.
